Disney World

We set out for Disney World on December 30th. Benjamin had the best time playing with his family - Abby, Andrew, Uncle Abraham, Aunt Laura, Granddaddy, and Grandma Nancy. He said Mickey for the first time while we were there and now is in love with anything Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. The fireworks at the Castle definitely scared him - but for the most part he loved everything about Disney World!

If it's not one thing it's another......

Benjamin has had a runny nose for the past couple of weeks. Usually it's no big deal when he gets one so we were just waiting for it to pass. However, he woke up from his nap this afternoon pretty sick. It's moved to his lungs and the poor thing can't cough hard enough to get it all out. Sounds like he's gagging at times. Sadly, he's passed whatever it is that he has on to me....I was thinking I was just having allergy problems but it looks like it's turning into a full blown cold. To top it all off, I hit my toe and split it open yesterday on the coffee table. Spent the afternoon in the Care Now clinic to make sure it wasn't broken. All of this and we're leaving for Disney World shortly. We're praying we're all better by then.

Christmas Part 2 - Happy Birthday Jesus!

Christmas morning was a blast! We made it last for a long time! Surprisingly, Benjamin was the last one awake Christmas morning - he slept in until almost 9am! He was stunned to see all the stuff Santa left. We first went through all of Santa's gifts, then ate my mom's famous egg casserole, then went back for presents. For lunch we had beef stew and birthday cake for Jesus. The boys spent the day putting together Ben's new play gym from Grandmother and David's new grill from Grandpa. Benjamin spent the day playing with all the Elmo toys he received. He was a happy little boy - in fact, he didn't get out of his pj's ALL DAY!

Christmas Part 1

Christmas Eve was so much fun. My mom and dad came, we went to our church service, then we ate too much food (meatballs, fruit, banana bread, blueberry muffins, fudge, cookies, and on and on). Oh, don't forget - we had to get ready for Santa! We decided to leave Weight Watcher cookies for Santa with some Lowfat Milk and also some Iced Coffee in case he needed a little pick-me-up! It was hard to keep Benjamin out of Santa's cookies. These first set of pictures were taken from my normal camera that I always use...however, my husband got me an incredible Nikon D90 professional camera for Christmas - those pictures will be seen in Christmas Part Two!

Potty Progress!

Benjamin has been doing a great job lately at telling me when he has a dirty diaper. However, today we made MAJOR progress! He actually told me he had to "potty" before he actually pottied in his diaper. He told me "potty" and ran over to his potty and stood by it. Then proceeded to do the deed in his diaper. Yippee!

Playdate with Hope

This morning we skipped the gym and Sherry brought Hope over for a playdate. Benjamin had the best time. It's so cute to watch Hope - her momma warns her that she's going to get a spanking and Hope will spank herself and thinks it's funny. I know she's in trouble so I try not to laugh but it's just so cute how she reacts.

How Benjamin Likes to Clean the Silverware......

For the past several days this is what I've caught Benjamin doing - digging in our silverware drawer, pulling each utensil out and licking them one by one. He always puts it back in the drawer when he's done. Thankfully I can always tell when he's been in there - when he has, I end up washing ALL of the utensils.....maybe we'll move to plastic utensils for the time being. We've got most of our cabinets with childproof locks, just haven't done the drawers yet - looks like it might be time!

Our Future Rocket Scientist......

Pop-Up Books

Benjamin absolutely loves pop-up books. He has quite a few of them. However, we have one pop-up book that strikes fear in him. The last page of this particular book will make him COMPLETELY freak out and come running and screaming to Momma and Dadda (or anyone that is near by). He'll even back away from the book when he notices it on the table and then begin to wimper. This photograph is of the particular "pop-up" that is so frightening to him.....it's a smiling horse. Poor Benjamin.

Thanksgiving 2008 Waco, Texas

We had a great Thanksgiving packed with lots of fun and good times with family! From our delicious Thanksgiving dinner prepared by the hostess with the mostess, Grandma Nancy, to visits on a farm and Discovery Center playing! Plus LOTS and LOTS of playing with Abby and Andrew - Benjamin ate it all up!

Texas Tech Game

Alright, I know we're HUGE Baylor fans but we couldn't wait for the Texas Tech vs. OU game this evening. Benjamin was sporting the Texas Tech colors and was ready to cheer them on! It's the 2nd quarter and sadly Tech is losing. Oh well, the anticipation of the game sure was fun!

Elbow...(Elmo)

Elmo is by far Benjamin's favorite character. It's so cute to hear him pronounce it - he says "elbow". I found some Elmo Christmas pajamas and he wore them the other night. Yes, I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet but I couldn't resist seeing him in these pj's. Grandmother bought him a talking Elmo chair recently and he LOVES it! While David and I sit on the couch to watch TV, Benjamin promptly goes to his Elmo chair to join us.

It's a Girl!

We found out last week that we're having a girl! We also went to the Baylor/Aggie game on Saturday. It was so cold but well worth it. It's so good to see Baylor doing so well this season. Poor Aggies...okay, not really. HA HA HA to the Aggies! It was Benjamin's 1st Baylor game. He did really well. Maybe he'll be our future Baylor football player with his little sister as a Baylor cheerleader! We also got to spend some quality time with family and friends over our 3 day weekend (David took the day off on Friday). Good times!

I AM CORNHOLIO!

Okay, for all of the Beavis & Butthead fans - we caught Benjamin pretending to be Cornholio. He was actually trying to take his shirt off and it got stuck. He didn't seem to mind so he kept it like that. David and I laughed so hard our stomachs hurt.

Hope's 2nd Birthday

Benjamin had a blast at Hope's birthday party on Sunday. He liked playing in the gym but he was SOOOO ready for cake! Notice how he's the first and ONLY one in the cake room waiting for some dessert!

Fun in the Fall Leaves

It's that time of year again when our lawn service only comes once a month. Therefore, we're starting to get quite a collection of leaves in our backyard. Benjamin certainly doesn't mind!

Dave & Buster's

Last weekend we celebrated my cousin's 16th birthday. We got to see family that we haven't seen in about a year. It was so good to reconnect with them. Benjamin had fun playing with Aunt Cathie's straw in a glass of water - which kept me on my toes! I had to make sure he didn't dump the whole thing over! Oh the stress......

Our Little Frankenstein!

Benjamin had a BLAST on Halloween! He woke up to his little pumpkin surprise basket filled with all kinds of Halloween goodies! Later that evening we hooked up with some friends and took all the kids out trick-or-treating. Benjamin had a hard time at first trying to figure out the protocol. The first several houses we went up to he thought he was supposed to take the candy and then just walk on inside the stranger’s house! It was too funny. It took him several attempts to finally catch on!

Zoo

Last Friday David surprised me and took the afternoon off and we headed to the zoo. Out of all the fun things to see and do Benjamin's favorite thing was the carousel. He couldn't get enough of it and would cry each time we walked by it because he more, more, more!

NKOTB

Natalie and I had a blast at the New Kids concert last week. We had great seats - we were in the perfect position to see them going in and out of their dressing room in between songs at the side of the stage...kind of took the mystery out of how it all works behind the scenes! It was fun though. I actually think we had more fun making fun of all the crazy fans (women my age acting like total fools). Good times!
