My Super Cool Girl - Miss Sally Do Hoon

Have I ever said how much I love this little girl?  I mean really, she's the coolest little girl EVER.  She didn't get her coolness from me....no way.  Must be from David.  The picture below is from our drive to  the lake to take our boat out.  Unfortunately right after this picture she put her huge pink glasses on which made her even CUTER (for REAL, like that's even possible she could be ANY cuter, but it's true).  But here she is....she rolled her window down, told me to turn the music up LOUD (it was on the 90's station), and off into pensive land she went.  At one point when I looked back she had her hand tapping to the beat on the window ledge.  It was total B.L.I.S.S. for her.

Not saying that these things are, like, cool but here's a glimpse of things she likes (like I said, none of this is anything like me)......ahem....David from your teen years (minus the tattoos)????

1.  Loud music (I mean REALLY loud) This girl wants rock 'n roll while I want Bach, Mozart, Sinatra, or Indigo Girls.......no she wants the crazy stuff (trust me, I DO NOT encourage it).

2.  Dancing.  And not like dancing to the beat kind of dancing.....she does more of the "interpretive dance" kind of stuff......and the cool thing is.....she's actually really good at it!!!!

3.  FAST cars - she seriously thinks I drive too slow even though I'm going the speed limit (guess that's why she likes riding with Daddy).

4.  Brightly painted cars.

5.  Tattoos, yes I said tattoos. There have been several times she has seen a guy with a huge tattoo and told me she wants Daddy to get one just like it.

So should I be worried about the teenage years??????????   Oh dear........

Happy Birthday Sweet Friend!

My dear friend Handey had a birthday last week and we had a great time celebrating!  Well, it started off rocky at a wine bar (due to poor management and an unruly customer) but ended with a delicious dinner at a nearby Mexican restaurant.  It was so good to see her and catch up.  I love how God puts people in your life when you really need it.   She's been a special friend this last year and I'm so thankful for her genuine, non-judging, laid back, sweet friendship. Have you ever had one of those friends that just makes you sigh with contentment when you're around them?  Yeah, that's her.

Happy 4th of July

So we've spent the last 8 years living in our neighborhood wondering where do we go see fireworks around here?  Well, a great location has been right under our nose.  Crowly Park, right by our house, has an open field and a lot of people from the neighborhood bring chairs and watch a fireworks show from there.  It's perfect....and free!  We started the day at the Barnes' house swimming, cooking out, (and Mirtha and I sneaking off to watch a hilarious movie about a zombie falling in love with a human....shhhh).

David's 40th

With the help of several people we were able to pull off a surprise party at our house for David's 40th birthday.  It ended up being pretty difficult to get him back to the house at the right time......so difficult that he got upset at me and hung up on me for the very first time!!!!  We can laugh about it now, but he wasn't happy at the time.  He ended up being an hour late to his own party, keeping all of his friends and family waiting (of course, he had no idea  there were people waiting on him).  But it all turned out to be a really good time and we got to see a lot of our favorite people.

A coworker of David's was up at the office from 10:30pm-2:30am filling his office with balloons.

Here's an attempt at a group shot, a bunch of people are missing though.   :(

Ok, seriously?  This is the only picture of the two of us.......and it stinks.  But, here you go.
