Twilight Marathon - Go Team Edward....and Jacob!

Three movies in one evening. Pure craziness...and sleepiness. Yep, I fell asleep during 2 of them....but only momentarily. Great times though with great friends. Just looks like I'll have to watch the 3rd again. A midnight movie is WAY past my bedtime. Ahhhh yawn.

David's Birthday

David celebrated his 37th birthday by cleaning up our flooded house due to a backed up toilet. Geez, poor guy. Since we've been potty training Benjamin we've been going through a lot of "flushable" wipes. Well, all I have to say is that "flushable" wipes really aren't flushable. They're the reason for the catastrophe.

We did end up having a little time to stop by a friend's house and have dinner and birthday cake. Here's an attempt at writing on his cake. Ahem, we'll say the kids tried to write it.

So we really celebrated his birthday the next weekend. Our dear artist friend, Richard, made this painting for David for his birthday. Our bedroom is basically a gallery of Richard's art and this is a very welcomed addition. It's not finished yet but you get the idea. Thank you so much Richard!

Return of the Invisible Man

Months ago I blogged about the invisible man Benjamin claims he saw while we were playing in the living room. Well, last week as we were playing in the playroom he turns and looks and says "That grumpy man is happy now".

I said "What grumpy man?"

Benjamin: "That grumpy man over there, he's happy now."

Me: "Okay, there's a grumpy man over there, then what does he look like?"

Benjamin: "He has a face."

Me: "Is he still there?"

Benjamin looks over and says "No".

Me: "Where did he go?"

Benjamin: "I don't know."

So do we have a ghost or is it my son's great imagination? At least the "ghost" isn't grumpy anymore! :)

On a completely different note, Benjamin sometimes gets jealous of Savannah wearing bows. This is one of the times that he went and picked out a few for himself from her room. He probably won't be too happy about me posting this picture of few years from now.

Gymnastics

Benjamin started gymnastics for the first time about a month ago. I love that the parents get to watch. I was really surprised that there are more boys in the class than girls! Yesterday's class had 4 boys and one girl. I was afraid he was going to be the only boy but clearly see I was wrong! Anyway, he's really enjoying it. It's amazing what those instructors can get a three year to do!

Stretching.

Trampoline time!

The bar.

What's that face for Savannah? Poor thing, she gets so frustrated watching because she wants to be out there with the other kids SO bad.

Sharing

The other day during dinner Benjamin didn't want to eat his carrots that were in his bowl. I started doing the dishes and didn't look up for a few moments. Suddenly Benjamin shouts "Hey Momma, look! I ate all my carrots!" I looked over in his bowl and sure enough, they were all gone. However, it only took me a second to see he had transfered all of his carrots to another bowl. He thought he could trick me! I couldn't help but to snicker. I then told him I see where you put the carrots and you need to eat all of them in your other bowl. He begrudingly agreed and I went back to washing dishes. I looked up and see him placing each carrot on Savannah's tray and she quickly snatched each one up to eat it (she loves carrots). Yet again, he's trying to trick me! I asked him "BENJAMIN! What do you think you're doing?" he replied...."sharing". Now how do you get mad at that?

Lost Pines and Potty Training

Last weekend we took a trip with some of Benjamin's buddies down to Lost Pines. Savannah stayed with the grandparents so David and I could have some good one-on-one time with Ben. The resort was absolutely amazing. The place was so kid friendly that David and I even had a relaxing time with a 3 year old!

Since his two friends were already potty-trained and I got to see how good they were I decided it was time to put my foot down and insist on Benjamin getting potty trained. So Monday was our first day. Yesterday (Wednesday) he only had one accident and today he's had none. We figured out that pull-ups weren't the answer. They were just glorified diapers. Big boy underwear (ahem...spiderman underwear) saved the day!

Best buds. Benjamin, Luke, and Christopher at Lost Pines.

David and Benjamin napping together....two peas in a pod...or might I say, like father like son!

Dessert....messy, messy, messy.

Miss Riley

Ben "hearts" Riley.

Baylor at Sea World

Last weekend Baylor University hosted an event at Sea World for students, alums, and staff. Since we've got a lot of Baylor alums in the family and my father-in-law is a professor there they decided to join! (I didn't get to go because of deadlines for work...ahem...thanks boss, a.k.a. my hubby David). Benjamin had a blast. From the pictures and videos David took you can tell Ben is just mesmerized with it all. He was also so excited about the flight down and back to San Antonio. While on the airplane getting ready to take off to come home he told me on the phone "we're almost there Momma!" I think he grew up while he was there. It's just incredible how you can miss just a few days and how much they change at this age.

On the plane and ready to go!

F-I-N-A-L-L-Y

Last Thursday, finally, after 14 months and 4 days Savannah started walking. For a while now she would walk to person to person, then she moved to person to object and vice versa. FINALLY today she walked object to object. Once she did it she couldn't get enough of it. She finally struck out and instead of just walking to an object she just started walking towards the middle of our living room with no "object" to help catch herself anywhere near by. She fell about half way through our living room but thankfully she did a very graceful fall and she was so proud of herself. I was 14 months old when I finally started walking. Benjamin was 11 1/2 months. Looks like our little "Miss Thing" is taking after Momma!
