Benjamin's Spanish Camp
Benjamin has been in Spanish Camp all week. I thought he was having a good time until this morning he begged to stay home. I think he just didn't like getting up early every morning....poor kid, he takes after David and me when it comes to sleeping in. Anyway, we've been carpooling with his friend Abby-Claire. He's been having a good time with her. When I dropped them off on Thursday morning his teacher had a funny story about Ben. She said every day the kids have a special "share" time where they talk about something fun or special they did the day before. She said all the other kids talk about going swimming, or eating pizza, and things like that and Benjamin just wants to talk about dinosaurs. She said she's been getting a kick out of him and is so impressed about his vast knowledge of dinosaurs: what their names are, if they're carnivores or herbivores, if they're bipeds or quadrupeds, etc. This kid loves dinosaurs. When we ask him every night what's something he's thankful for so we can pray for it he has 2 standard answers and they are Abby and Andrew.....and T-Rex dinosaurs. She also said he's doing a great job with his accent! Good job Ben! Not sure where he gets it because David and I don't have it.

Burned Out....
Emails, Facebook, texting, even blogging. I've been so bad about it all lately. I hardly ever check my cell phone to see if anyone called or texted. I wait days to check email. And for Facebook? I'm rarely on. Oh and television, I'm not much of a watcher anyway so it's hardly ever on (unless Daddy is home). So what is it with me lately and technology? Because it's so impersonal? So time consuming? I will say that since I don't surf the web so much anymore, I don't spend time looking at Facebook, and I only check emails every few days, I've had so much more time with my kids. It's been good. Real good. These kids are a blast, exhausting at times, but still a lot of fun.
As for television, if I do turn the T.V. on these days it seems like so much trash is on....including the commercials. I guess I'm so used to cartoons that anything beyond that is shocking to me, not innocent enough for me. So as irresponsible as this is, if you ask me about the latest news, I'm not up on it. As for world concerns I should be, I know. Actually my husband is up on all that stuff so I'll get him to update me on it all.
Anyway, if you've texted, emailed, or facebooked me lately and it took me a long time to respond, don't take it personal. Maybe I'll get my groove back soon, or maybe not. Try calling the home phone instead. I'm taking a break from all this overwhelming technology stuff.

Kerrville
We spent two weekends at the Kerrville Folk Festival in the last 3 weeks. The second weekend was for another memorial for Jerm. There was a great turnout. Jerm would've been pleased. We had tie-dyed kooozies and mugs made in his honor that read "WHAT WOULD JERM DO?" The folk festival was great....tie-dye everywhere, incredible music, a myriad of dreadlocks, and too many stinky dirty people. We had fun...we were stinky too so it didn't bother us. Tee hee hee.
My partner in crime at the festival...Abbey.

All of Jerm's family showed up.

"Jermy" was intentionally spelled wrong. :)

David and me hanging out at the river....trying to get clean.

Happy Anniversary!
On May 23rd David and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. Is it possible that I like him more with every year? No 7 year itch here. We started off at Cafe Izmir, then ended up at Nobu for some after dinner sushi. We got to be nostalgic in the courtyard because Nobu is in the Crescent Court Hotel where we were married. It was a great night. Love you babe.
At Cafe Izmir.

At Nobu.

One of my pet peeves....battery operated candles. Booooo! Come on Nobu, you can do better than that.

Uncle Kenneth
We lost another family member last week that was very dear to us. Uncle Kenneth. He was a very special man. Loved Christ, loved others deeply, told it to you straight, and had integrity. The list goes on and on. We are so blessed to have known him and have him part of our lives.
We found out the news and in just a few hours were all packed up for a 16 hour road trip to North Carolina. The kids did pretty well. Benjamin, I tell you, that kid was meant for traveling. Ever since he was an infant he has been an angel when it comes to traveling. Long planes rides (London, Greece, Scotland) and even long car rides (North Carolina, West Virginia) are always a piece of cake with him. Savannah, well that's another story. Bless her heart. After our last trip to London we've banned her from all plane rides until we're able to reason with her. I guess that'll be another 10 years, right?
During our stay in North Carolina I took Benjamin on another road trip to West Virginia to visit a friend who moved away last year. It was about a 6 hour car ride and the kid did amazing. It was just Benjamin and me on that trip. It was good to spend the one on one time with him in the car. We had a great visit. Short, but good and definitely well worth the long drive.

Cousins Abby and Andrew and my kids having a good time with Ronald on our drive to North Carolina.

Benjamin and his friend Seth (who moved to W. Virginia) in West Virginia at a fantastic Hibachi restaurant.

Benjamin and me on a train ride in Pigeon Forge (on our way back to Texas).

Savannah enjoying Thomas the Train in Pigeon Forge.

Less than 2 days back from our long drive, David's parents turned right back around and drove here from Waco for Granddaddy's birthday. They're troopers! :) He picked Gatti Town to celebrate. Brave, patient man.
