Slow Down Have Fun
I'm reading a new book about being intentional to slowing down life. To not let society pressure you into the "go, go, go" mentality (although that describes Savannah perfectly), and to be silly and shake things up a bit when our routine gets a bit mundane. Here's some things I've learned that I love and will be applying:
1. Give "love bombs". Occasionally and out of nowhere shower your kids with hugs and kisses and a plethora of "I love you's". (Don't forget to include the husband on this one!!!). Although our kids already get A LOT of this, it's never really had a name. This week, I'm amping the "love bombs" up a notch.
2. At the end of every day (before we wrap up our bedtime routine, and right before nighttime prayers) ask your kids what was their most favorite part of the day and what was their least favorite part of the day. Again, include husband in this as well.
3. Have ice cream and fruit for dinner. Oh yeah! Surprise them with it if they've been extra good that day. Or, if they've had a bad day to cheer them up.
4. Let them sleep in their sleeping bags in the living room.
5. Make a picnic under the kitchen table and eat breakfast there. We have a fairly high table in the kitchen and this will work beautifully!
6. Have a "stay up as late as you want night". This would need to be planned of course because this totally wouldn't work on a school night. But this is something they can look forward too.

Christmas 2013
We had a really good Christmas this year! Got to see a lot of family. First, we started off here at the house with my dad, Leigh, and the Oddo's (soon to be step-sister, ha!). Then we went to Waco for several days with David's parents. Finally, we went to Sherman with my mom for a couple of days.

Here's the plate the kids left for Santa and his reindeer - Benjamin insisted that Santa have some healthy stuff.
This is totally random but while we were in Waco we stopped by our favorite Baylor hangout, George's. While we were there one of the main characters from our favorite TV show (Breaking Bad) was there as well. How random? He actually is from Mart, TX which is basically Waco so he was in town for the holidays. This picture below is my friend Abby with him.
