Crib Climber
As per my previous post, Benjamin is climbing the bookshelves and climbing up on our countertops. Just when I thought there wasn't anything else he could possibly get into, he proved me wrong. Yesterday afternoon he climbed out of his crib 5 times! This is the first time he's ever done it. The babysitter was here while I was in the office working and while she was taking care of Savannah, in walks Benjamin who should've been napping in his crib. We actually didn't have such a hard time for bed time last night. He only climbed out twice before he actually stayed in his crib and went to sleep. Is it time for a toddler bed? I'm not sure what to do. At least the crib gives him some resistance from getting out - makes it harder.

We switched Charlie to a bed at that point just becuase we didn't want him to hurt himself climbing out. We also put a gate or child lock on the inside of his door once we moved him into a bed to "contain him." Most of what I have read says to make his room like a large crib. Eliminate toys or distractions, give him just stuff for bed, and find a way to keep him containted. That way the 4 walls of the room act as the crib... (but some think it barbaric that we "lock" our child in his room. I just don't see the difference since he is "locked" in his crib as a baby...)
