Mother of the Year Award

The other day I decided it was time to throw out the flowers that Benjamin gave me for Mother's Day because some of them were dead and the others were all wilted. As he was throwing something in the trash he notices them in the trash compactor. He runs to David all misty eyed and pleads to him "PLEASE don't throw my flowers away". I overheard him saying it, he was heartbroken that I had thrown his gift away and it crushed me. I felt terrible. So now, the flowers are back and will be forever. I suppose we'll let them dry out and do something creative with them.

The poor wilted flowers that we'll be keeping forever!

I cannot tell you how many times I have been discovered throwing away a treasure. I have gotten to the point now that I put things out of sight for a long while until I am sure that they are forgotten, THEN throw them away! That way, if either child notices them missing, I can say, "Hmmm... where did I set that... Oh yeah! In the laundry room. Here it is!" :-)
