Happy 6th Anniversary

Last weekend David and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary by attending a "secret wedding". Yes, we found out just a few days before that I was maid (or is it matron?) of honor and he was best man for 2 of our dearest friends. Talk about a whirlwind couple of days to prepare. Whew.....let me say that again...WHEW! Pictures to be posted later because shhh.....it's still a secret who got married. David, I love you and thank you for 6 wonderful years of marriage. The statement that "marriage is hard work" just blows my mind. It most certainly hasn't been hard. It's been fun, eventful, and blissful. (Okay, so we've got the "7 year itch" coming up next year.....let's see if I'm singing the same tune then.) I love you my dear sweet soul mate. God has truly blessed me with a man that still gives me butterflies.

Mother of the Year Award

The other day I decided it was time to throw out the flowers that Benjamin gave me for Mother's Day because some of them were dead and the others were all wilted. As he was throwing something in the trash he notices them in the trash compactor. He runs to David all misty eyed and pleads to him "PLEASE don't throw my flowers away". I overheard him saying it, he was heartbroken that I had thrown his gift away and it crushed me. I felt terrible. So now, the flowers are back and will be forever. I suppose we'll let them dry out and do something creative with them.

The poor wilted flowers that we'll be keeping forever!

Warm Fuzzies

It's 10:20pm and Benjamin is finally asleep. Sometimes it takes a long time to get him to calm down....tonight was one of those nights.....

Anyway....on to my point...to something that warms my heart.....when I'm singing Benjamin to sleep and he actually falls asleep while I'm singing and starts snoring. Okay, I'm not THAT good of a singer but it gives me warm fuzzies. One of 3 songs always works for him....but sometimes it takes all three....

1. Silent Night (we sing it almost every night to him, even though it's not Christmas). And can I give a shout out to my wonderful husband who can harmonize better than ANYONE I know?

2. Amazing Graze (although many times he shoots this one down).

3. Finally, the Benjamin song (explained in a previous post a while ago).

The sweet, sweet sound a child sleeping (snoring). Ahhhh.....WARM SNUGGLY FUZZIES in my heart.

Thank you David for these wonderful children...and thank you God for loaning these precious children to us. They're YOUR children and we'll do our best to raise them in a way that honors and glorifies YOU!

Four-Legged Surprise

As David and I were sitting outside in our backyard the other night talking he suddenly looks at me very seriously and says to me "something just moved over there behind you". Turns out it was a baby possum. Here it is "playing dead". Poor little guy was so scared. Sadly, David and I got a good laugh out of it. Silly little creature!

Special Features

Don't you just love it when you're packing up something that you've used for 3 years that you'll never be using again and as you're packing it up you realize it has a special feature on it you never knew about until that very moment? Yeah, that happened to me with the kids' duck tub they've been using. To those of you that use it, did you know that it has a suction cup on the bottom so you can hang it on the wall of the tub so it can dry? Me neither until now. Ho hum. Anyway, good-bye to the little duck tub. You've been so good to us. You've traveled many places with us and have made our lives so much easier! But since we never let the air out of you when we take trips, we'll now have more room in the car! Yes, during hotel stays we've looked really cute with a big blown up duck tub sitting on top of our luggage cart while our bellman rolled our luggage up to our room (huge blush). Miss Savannah has now graduated to the big kid's tub and she's loving every minute of it.

Benjamin's Official Birthday

Yesterday was Benjamin's official birthday. We got up early and went for donuts, then dropped him off at school. After school we got him a couple of garden gnomes to place around our pond (doesn't take much to interest a 3 year old!) and he had a great time arranging them exactly how he wanted. Unfortunately as he was playing with them this morning he broke one of their hats. Oh well - adds character to the little gnome. Later that day David took the rest of the day off and we went to my favorite restaurant (ahem...NOT!) Chuck E Cheese. Afterwards we came home for cake. I think he had a pretty good birthday.

Good morning birthday boy!

Strategically placed garden gnome #1. He's little but if you look closely you'll find him!

Strategically placed garden gnome #2. Another little one, look closely.

Birthday cake. Yes, it's pink. He told me he wanted chocolate cake with strawberry icing so that's what he got. He also has been saying he wanted a "Spring" cake - hence the green flowers.

Here's a birthday kiss from Savannah.

Good night birthday boy!

Mommy and Me Tea

Today Benjamin's class hosted a little Mother's Day party for the mom's. It was so sweet! He gave me planted flowers in a lovely pot and even made a card for me. His teacher had each child answer some questions that were in the card and here were his responses. His answers are in red, my responses to his answers are in blue.

What's your mom's name? Momma

What does she do? Cook chicken nuggets and french fries
Truth: I do cook chicken nuggets but have no idea where he got that I cook french fries!

How old is she? (?)
He has no idea of how old I am.

What is her favorite color? Orange
He got this one right!

What is her favorite food? Salad
I didn't even know he knew what a salad is honestly it's rare when I eat one these days.

What does she do while you are at school? Get snacks and cookies at the store.
Unbelievably, he was right about that one today! Probably because we talked about it before I dropped him off at school.

What message do you want to send her for mother's day? Give you a big flower!
And he did! A pot full of flowers! Thanks my favorite son!

Benjamin Turns Three

We celebrated Benjamin's birthday on Saturday at Joe's Crabshack. His birthday isn't until the 11th but he and his friend Riley's birthday is close together so we decided to do a joint birthday party for them. It was small - I actually didn't have the energy to do much else. David was gone most of last week and it was quite an exhausting week! But Benjamin had a blast and that's what counts. Is he REALLY three? Where does the time go?

My Little Tom Boy

Love this picture of Savannah. Yes, that's her in Benjamin's pj's and my hat. As I was packing up some things that Benjamin has grown out of I realized...you know, who cares what pj's look like, right? You just sleep in them. So sorry Savannah, you'll be wearing Ben's old pj's until you start talking and have something to say about it! Love you dear.
